Sardar Harjeet Singh Grewal Promoted to Additional Director, Continuing His Legacy of Excellence
Renowned Gatka Promoter and Award-Winning Public Relations Officer Takes on New Leadership Role in Punjab Government;

The Punjab government has promoted Sardar Harjeet Singh Grewal, State Awardee, Joint Director in the Department of Information and Public Relations, Chandigarh, to the post of Additional Director. As per the department's latest appointment orders, he has officially assumed charge of his new post today. This promotion follows a departmental committee meeting chaired by Secretary Sardar Malvinder Singh Jaggi.
Renowned globally for promoting Sikh martial art -Gatka, Sardar Harjeet Singh Grewal holds a LL.B degree and Master's in Journalism and Mass Communications from Punjabi University, Patiala. Hailing from Sakraudi village in Sangrur district, Grewal has played a pivotal role over the past 17 years in preserving, promoting and popularizing Gatka as a recognized sport worldwide. His selfless contributions have earned him accolades, including the Punjab State Award, Sewa Award (Dubai), and Sikh Achievers Award (Mumbai).
A former science student at Ranbir College, Sangrur, and Akal College, Mastuana Sahib, Grewal’s career progression has brought pride to his village and local community. He joined service in 2001 as a Public Relations Officer and has since held key positions, including Deputy Director in the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab Police and working with over a dozen ministers, including the Deputy Chief Minister. As Joint Director, he successfully managed multiple wings of the department.
