The Jeevika project of the Bihar government is working towards making women self-reliant. Under this scheme started in the year 2006, women are given training in various types of skills. Currently, 10 lakh 12 thousand Jeevika didis are contributing to health services. These didis are working as health friends, running Jan Aushadhi Kendras and playing an important role in increasing health awareness.

Jeevika didis became the leader of the health revolution

45 health assistance centers are being operated in Bihar with the help of Jeevika didis. All these centers are making an important contribution in providing proper medical treatment to the patients. The big thing is that Jeevika didis are also running Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra in Sitamarhi, Nalanda and Gopalganj Sadar Hospital of Bihar, where cheap and quality medicines are being made available. At the same time, a plant-based organic sanitary napkin manufacturing unit is operating in Buxar district.

After becoming the Chief Minister in the year 2005, Nitish Kumar started many ambitious schemes for the empowerment of women, which includes the establishment of Jeevika project in the year 2006. This organization is continuously working for the development, empowerment and poverty alleviation of women.

It is known that under the Jeevika project, 10.63 lakh self-help groups have been formed so far, which have linked more than 1 crore 35 lakh families.
