Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday lauded Indians' ability to preserve their ancient heritage and culture, citing the ongoing construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya as a prime example.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-day Gorakhpur Mahotsav, Yogi said, "While civilizations across the world have faded away, India continues to safeguard its thousands of years old heritage and culture." He attributed this to the nation's inherent talent for preserving traditions, even amidst various challenges.

Drawing a connection to the upcoming Ram Mandir consecration ceremony, Yogi stated, "Lord Rama's incarnation happened thousands of years ago, yet every Indian remains connected to the traditions he established. By defeating those who targeted Ayodhya and attacked our culture and faith, we have reclaimed our identity. The upcoming consecration is a symbol of this victory."

He further emphasized the role of festivals like Diwali, Holi, Ram Navami, and Mahashivratri in communicating Indian culture and bridging cultural gaps. He stressed the importance of these festivals serving as vehicles for conveying broader cultural messages and not just celebrations.

Highlighting the development of Ayodhya, Yogi pointed out the improved infrastructure, including a new airport capable of handling eight planes simultaneously, to accommodate the expected influx of devotees for the Ram Mandir inauguration. He also mentioned the construction of Dharamshalas, hotels, and a tent city similar to the Kumbh Mela.

Shifting focus to Gorakhpur and eastern Uttar Pradesh, Yogi emphasized the region's rich cultural and spiritual heritage. He mentioned the presence of holy sites like Lumbini (Buddha's birthplace), Kushinagar (Buddha's resting place), Maghar (Sant Kabir's birthplace), and highlighted the proximity to Ayodhya and Kashi.

Expressing his satisfaction with the success of Gorakhpur Mahotsav, Yogi lauded the artists who performed and reiterated the festival's aim to promote folk traditions and art, providing a platform for new artists and inspiring them.

He concluded by highlighting the transformation of Gorakhpur, once known for mafia activities and mosquitoes. "Today, with their eradication, encephalitis has also been eliminated," he declared, emphasizing the positive spirit and development efforts that have transformed the city.
