The Water Resources Department of the Bihar government is constantly working to strengthen flood protection and irrigation facilities through efficient management of water resources available in the state. In this sequence, a gated weir is being constructed on the Sugarve river near Madanpatti village of Phulparas block of Madhubani district. Its objective is to provide irrigation facilities to the farmers of the area as well as to ensure effective management of the water of the Sugarve river. Work is being done at a fast pace to complete this important irrigation scheme of the Water Resources Department. The officials of the department are working diligently for the successful and early implementation of this scheme.

With the construction of the gated weir, the villages Bhagwatipur, Palar, Thurwahi, Navnagar under Andharathadhi block of Madhubani district, Madanpatti, Churkatta, Navtauli, Rahmanganj, Sitapatti, Laksena, Madna under Phulparas block; Many villages like Sudai, Bishariya, Bedari under Ghoghaddiha block and Parsa Sirkhariya under Jhanjharpur block will be benefited.

This scheme will enable effective management and use of the water of Sugarve river and the farmers of the area will have sufficient water for irrigation. Under this scheme, irrigation of about 2,321 hectares of agricultural land will be ensured, which will strengthen the economic condition of the farmers along with increasing agricultural production in the area.
