CM Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 in Patna
Bihar makes history by hosting the international event, welcoming 300 players from 20 countries, and promoting global sports culture in the state.;

Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today formally inaugurated the Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 by declaring it open at Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh. The Chief Minister also posed for a photo with the players and organisers in front of the Sepak Takraw World Cup. During the programme, the Chief Minister met the players and wished them and greeted the people present by waving his hand. The Chief Minister went to the sports ground and congratulated the players and the representatives of the participating countries.

Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 is being organised for the first time in Bihar. More than 300 players and coaches from 20 countries of the world will participate in this event. It is being organised at Patna's Patliputra Sports Complex from 20 to 25 March. Bihar has created a new history by organising this sport at an international level. This is a historic and proud moment for the people of Bihar. This event will not only give Bihar a new identity on the global sports platform but will also contribute significantly in promoting sports culture in the state.
This will inspire local players and they will experience international level facilities and competition. It is known that Sepak Takraw is a traditional game of South-East Asia, in which players play a special ball (Sepak) made of bamboo with the help of feet, head, knees and chest. It can be called a mixture of football and volleyball, in which the player needs more flexibility, balance and skill.
This game is very popular in countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar. Now Bihar is ready to make its strong presence felt on the global sports platform through this game. During the program, Secretary General of International Sepak Takraw Federation Mr. Datuk Abdul Halim Kadir honored the Chief Minister by presenting him a symbol. The Chief Minister honoured Bihar's Sepak Takraw player Mr. Bobby Kumar by presenting him a memento.
Water Resources Minister Mr. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Mr. Deepak Kumar, Director General of Police Mr. Vinay Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of General Administration Department cum Sports Department Dr. B. Rajender, Chief Minister's Secretary Mr. Kumar Ravi, Chief Minister's Special Officer Mr. Gopal Singh, Bihar State Sports Authority's Director General Dr. Ravindran Shankar, Sports Department's Director Mr. Mahendra Kumar, International Sepak Takraw Federation's President Mr. Bun Chai Lor Peepath, International Sepak Takraw Federation's Secretary General Mr. Datuk Abdul Halim Kadir, Sepak Takraw Federation of India's President Mr. Yogendra Singh Dahiya along with other senior officers, coaches and players of participating countries were present in the programme.
