Patna-Purnia Expressway to Boost Connectivity, Agriculture, and Trade in Bihar

Six-lane, 282 km expressway to cut travel time to three hours, enhance flood protection, and connect 250 villages across six districts.;

Patna-Purnia four lane expressway will bring smiles on the faces of thousands of farmers of the state. Notification for land acquisition has been issued for this first green field expressway of the state. Under this project, a total of 3381.2 hectares of land will be acquired in more than 250 villages of 29 blocks of 6 districts. It is estimated to cost around 9 thousand 467 crore 40 lakh rupees. Distribution of such a huge amount among the concerned farmers in acquiring land will pave the way for prosperity in their lives.

15 blocks of 4 flood affected districts benefit

It is worth noting that Darbhanga, Saharsa, Samastipur, Madhepura are affected by floods. 15 blocks of these districts will get relief from the havoc of floods to a great extent. Now with the construction of this expressway, thousands of people of the villages of these blocks will get convenience in transportation. This expressway will also pass through major rivers like Gandak, Budhi Gandak, Bagmati, Kamala, Dudhauli, Dudhaulidhar, Kosi, Jirwa, Kosidhar. Bridges will also be constructed on these major rivers. This will facilitate protection from floods in these areas to a great extent. Also, with the help of this expressway, the people of this area will get connectivity by road in every season. It will also be easy for farmers to take their produce to big markets of other cities.

11 NHs and 10 SHs will also be connected with this

11 National Highways (NH) and 10 State Highways (SH) of the state will also be connected with Patna-Purnia Expressway. This will facilitate traffic. This expressway has been designed to drive vehicles at a maximum speed of 120 km per hour. So that more distance can be covered in less time. Its length will be 281.95 km and it will start from Mirnagar in Vaishali and reach Chand Bhatti in Purnia passing through Samastipur, Darbhanga, Saharsa and Madhepura districts. The estimated cost of this six-lane expressway is Rs 18 thousand 42 crore 14 lakh. Under the project, 21 big bridges, 140 small bridges, 11 railway overbridges, 21 interchanges and 322 underpasses are to be constructed.

Patna to Purnia in just 3 hours

After the completion of this project, the travel time from Patna to Purnia will be reduced to just 3 hours. Whereas, currently it takes 7-8 hours to cover this distance. Apart from this, a separate connecting road will be constructed to connect Samastipur, Saharsa and Madhepura to this expressway. This will also improve the connectivity of these districts. The construction of Patna-Purnia Expressway will be based on green routing. Environmental balance has also been taken care of in this. This project will not only strengthen high quality road construction in Bihar but will also boost trade, tourism and industrial development
