Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-Cum-Memorial Stupa Nears Completion in Vaishali
₹550 Crore Project to Preserve Buddha Relics and Showcase Cultural Heritage Expected to Become Global Buddhist Attraction by January 2025.
The construction work of Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa will be completed soon to keep the relics of Lord Buddha safe and for public viewing on a plot of 72.94 acres near the sacred Pushkarni pond and the mythological Mitti Stupa in Vaishali, the holy land of Lord Buddha, at a cost of ₹550.48 crore. Finishing work is going on. The working agency has been directed to speed up the finishing and cleaning work. It has been directed to complete it by January, 2025.
Secretary of Building Construction Department, Mr. Kumar Ravi said that as per the vision of the Honorable Chief Minister, Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa has been given the form of attractive architecture and unmatched carving. The work of installing 38500 stones in the stupa has been completed. Pink stones were ordered from Rajasthan to make the stupa grand and attractive.
He said that installing stones weighing up to 12 tonnes at a height using a crane and fitting these stones one by one has been a new experience for the engineers of the building construction department. From the point of view of civil engineering, the construction of this structure has been challenging. This structure is completely made of stones and no adhesive or other things have been used to fix the stones. The construction of the structure required to keep the statue of Lord Buddha and the memorabilia is in its final stage. In the coming time, the grand architecture of the stupa will make its unique identity on the world stage. The tourists coming here will be able to see the unique depiction of the life philosophy of Lord Buddha and the souvenirs.
The stupa, museum block, visitor center building, library building and meditation center building, guest house and amp theatre and service area have been constructed in the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum cum Smriti Stupa complex. Apart from this, other important things including parking arrangements for vehicles, cafeteria, ticket counter have also been taken care of.
The stupa was constructed on a plot of about 4300 square meters of the complex. The total height of the stupa is 33 meters, the inner diameter is 38 meters and the outer diameter is 50 meters. A huge hall has been constructed on the ground floor of the stupa for 2000 devotees to sit and meditate. The stupa has 04 gates, 04 ramps and 04 arch gates. Exhibits and artifacts related to Lord Buddha were installed in the museum to keep the memories related to Lord Buddha.
A lot of work has also been done in the stupa complex from the environmental point of view. To make the complex look beautiful, greenery has been developed by planting trees on a large scale. The total greenery area is about 271689 square meters. Along with this, sewerage treatment plant and water treatment plant have also been installed. To increase the beauty of the complex, some necessary construction is being done in other water structures on the banks of the pond. The Secretary said that the new stupa complex will be connected to the Mud Stupa. Necessary work is being done for this. Small works are being done at many places in the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum cum Smriti Stupa complex, so that the complex can look more beautiful and attractive.
Lord Buddha's bone urn has been found in Vaishali, which will be installed in the Buddha Smriti Stupa. Events related to the life of Mahatma Buddha and incidents related to Buddhism have been shown in the museum. In the coming time, this museum will show the cultural heritage and grandeur of Bihar. After the completion of this construction work, along with the Buddhists, a large number of tourists from the country and abroad will also come here. It will become a major faith and a center of attraction for the Buddhists. This will also increase employment opportunities.
