₹4 crore grants, film city plans, and rapid approvals attract Bollywood and global filmmakers; shooting underway for major films and web series.;

With the initiative of the Nitish government, Bihar is also now rapidly moving towards becoming a hub of film production. The state has become a unique option for filmmakers from the country and abroad due to its historical sites, the beauty of villages and the cities situated on the banks of the Ganges. Bihar, which was once known for its rich historical heritage. Now is becoming a new hotspot for Bollywood and web series shooting. 'Film Promotion Policy 2024', Film City, Grant Scheme and fast-approved shooting permissions have attracted filmmakers to Bihar.

11 films got permission to shoot

On July 19, 2024, this policy was implemented and the responsibility of its implementation was handed over to Bihar Film Development and Finance Corporation Limited. Since the implementation of the policy, about 11 films have been provided shooting permission, other facilities and police protection. This also includes a web series and a documentary film, out of which the shooting of many films has been completed. These films are in Hindi, Bhojpuri, Maithili and an international film in English.

Film set is being constructed in Valmiki Nagar

The shooting of AR Murugadoss' upcoming film "Madrasi", director of many superhit films like Ghajini, Sikandar, Darbar, is currently going on in Bihar. Similarly, the shooting of "Oh My God 2" director Amit Rai's upcoming film "Oh My Dog", is also going on at various locations in Bihar, in which Bihar actor Pankaj Tripathi is in the lead role. Apart from this, a huge set is being constructed in Valmiki Nagar for the shooting of a big film of filmmaker Sagar Srivastava.

Bhojpuri film Sanghatia may get subsidy

To attract filmmakers, the Bihar government is giving a grant of up to Rs 4 crore, the highest in comparison to any other state. According to the policy, this amount will be given to those producers whose film has been shot 75 percent in Bihar. Under this policy, Bhojpuri film "Sanghatia" shot in Bihar by producer Vineet Jha and director Abhishek Chauhan is now complete and in the process of censorship. It is believed that this is the first film to get subsidy under this policy.

Provision of scholarship

Under the film policy, there is provision of scholarship for students of Bihar studying in Pune Film Institute, Satyajit Ray Film Institute and National School of Drama, in which scholarship of one student has been awarded. Recently, on Bihar Day, a master class of film acting was organized by the country's well-known acting coach Hemant Mahor at Aryabhatta Gyan Vishwavidyalaya, in which a large number of trainees participated.
