PM Modi to visit Thailand and Sri Lanka: Will attend the 6th BIMSTEC summit in Bangkok
Indian Prime Minister to strengthen bilateral ties with Thailand and Sri Lanka, discuss regional cooperation, and inaugurate development projects;

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit Thailand and Sri Lanka. According to the information released by the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India, PM Modi will visit Bangkok, Thailand, on 3-4 April 2025.
PM Modi will also participate in the sixth BIMSTEC countries meeting to be held on 4 April 2025. This meeting is being hosted by Thailand. Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has invited PM Modi to attend this meeting.
This physical meeting of BIMSTEC countries is taking place after the fourth BIMSTEC summit held in Kathmandu, Nepal, in the year 2018. The fifth BIMSTEC summit was held virtually in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in March 2022.
In the sixth BIMSTEC summit, leaders of different countries can discuss ways and means to give more impetus to cooperation. India is taking several initiatives in BIMSTEC to strengthen regional cooperation and partnership. These include enhancing security, facilitating trade and investment, establishing physical maritime and digital connectivity, cooperating in food, energy, climate and human security, promoting capacity building and skills development and enhancing people-to-people ties.
Before this, Prime Minister Modi will meet with the Prime Minister of Thailand on 3 April 2025. In this meeting, the leaders of the two countries will talk about reviewing bilateral cooperation and paving the way for future partnerships between the countries. Let us tell you that India and Thailand share a border through maritime and there are cultural, linguistic and religious ties between the two countries.
After this, PM Modi will visit Sri Lanka on a state visit from 4-6 April 2025. Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has invited PM Modi for this visit. During this visit, Prime Minister Modi will discuss various issues with the President of Sri Lanka.
Prime Minister Modi will also visit Anuradhapura to inaugurate development projects implemented with Indian financial assistance. Let us tell you that Sri Lankan President Dissanayake made a state visit to India as his first foreign visit after assuming office.
