The Mukhyamantri Bhikshavriti Nivaran Yojana run by the Social Welfare Department of the Bihar Government has given a respectable new life to thousands of monks. Due to this scheme, 9 thousand 226 monks have been relieved from the curse of begging. At the same time, 1873 of these monks have been provided employment. These monks, who once used to make a living by begging, have now become financially self-reliant.

Seva Kutir: New path of rehabilitation and employment

Under this scheme, the government is not only freeing the monks from this curse but is also working to connect them with self-employment. A beggar rehabilitation home has also been arranged for elderly and disabled monks. In the male and female Seva Kutir run by the Social Welfare Department, the work of bringing the monks and connecting them with employment is done.

Many examples have also come to light in this regard, which are creating new success stories by taking advantage of these schemes.

Case-1

Sonu Kumar (name changed) used to beg near Laheriyasarai station, Darbhanga. He was brought to the Purush Seva Kutir in Darbhanga and counselled. The young man was begging due to mental distress and drug addiction. After counselling, he accepted that begging was wrong. He also resolved to get rid of his drug addiction. He decided to work hard and earn a respectable living. Now he is happy with his family.

Case-2

Rita Devi (name changed), who was begging in Gandhi Maidan and nearby areas of Patna, was rescued and brought to the Mahila Seva Kutir. She was informed about this scheme. During counselling, she was motivated to leave begging and take up self-employment. The benefit of this was that today she is running her own tea shop. She earns Rs 1000 per day from this. Now she also encourages other beggars to leave begging.

Life is changing due to the efforts of the government

This scheme is not just an attempt to end begging but also to bring about a change in the society and make the monks self-reliant. Through this, the monks are getting employment, rehabilitation and an opportunity to live a respectable life. The Chief Minister's Bhikshavriti Nivaran Yojana of the Bihar Government has given the monks an opportunity to live a respectable and self-reliant life. This scheme is proving to be a big initiative towards social change
