The Bihar government is working on many schemes on a large scale to strengthen the cooperative and agriculture sector. In this direction, a plan has been made to link maize, pulses and oilseed crops with Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), which will directly benefit the farmers. Also, 100 new Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) are being formed, which will help in organizing the farmers and increasing their income.

Improvement in cooperative sector

The Bihar government has taken several important steps to strengthen the cooperative sector:

PACS centers will be expanded in every district, which will provide more convenience to the rural farmers.

Jan Aushadhi Centers will be opened in every PACS so that people in rural areas can get affordable and quality medicines.

A special scheme has been brought to promote women milk producing committees. At present, 30,519 milk producing committees are working in the state, which have 14.39 lakh members. The government aims to have 50% share of women in these.

Expansion of banking services

The state government is developing cooperative societies as bank mitras, which will increase banking facilities in rural areas. In the next 6 months, 1500 societies will be given micro ATMs. Also, grants have been approved by NABARD for 785 M-ATMs, out of which these machines have been distributed to 100 societies.

5350 PACS societies, fisheries cooperative societies, weavers cooperative societies, 1000 milk producers societies, 300 vegetable producers societies and 300 handloom weavers societies will participate in this program.

Plan to take vegetables to the international market

Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar said that a special mobile app is being developed to increase the reach of Bihar's vegetables to foreign countries. This will increase the income of farmers by connecting them directly to the international market.

Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate

Union Home Minister and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate various schemes of the Cooperative Department in Bapu Auditorium on March 29-30. On this occasion, micro ATMs will be distributed to Bank Mitra Committees. Also, Makhana Processing Center will be inaugurated in Darbhanga, which will provide better market to Makhana producers.

Not only this, 11 new warehouses will be inaugurated, which will increase the facility of storage of agricultural products. 500 PACS will be declared e-PACS and they will be given certificates. The foundation stone for the construction of warehouses will be laid in two PACS under the world's largest food storage scheme.

These schemes of Bihar government will provide extensive benefits to farmers, women and cooperative societies. These efforts will strengthen the cooperative sector of Bihar and improve the rural economy
