Bihar Disburses ₹301 Crore to 75,295 Beneficiaries Under PM Awas Yojana Gramin
State targets 7.9 lakh rural houses in 2024-25; eligible families to receive ₹1.54 lakh including MNREGA wages and sanitation support.;

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, the first installment has been paid to 75,295 beneficiaries on Monday. In a program organized in the auditorium of the Rural Development Department at the Chief Secretariat in Patna, departmental minister Shravan Kumar released the first installment of Rs 301 crore 18 lakh while providing housing acceptance letters among the concerned beneficiaries.
On this occasion, the minister said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, the target of 2 lakh 43 thousand 903 houses was achieved for the first time in September 2024. As against this target, in the program organized on 17 September 2024, lump sum assistance amount was paid to about 90 thousand beneficiaries. An expenditure of Rs 360 crore was incurred on this.
After this, in the program organized at the state level on 7 October 2024, more than 01 lakh beneficiaries have been paid lump sum first installment assistance amount. On which Rs 400 crore has been spent.
A target of 5 lakh 46 thousand 745 additional houses has been received from the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India from 27 January 2025. Thus, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), the target of total houses in the state in the financial year 2024-25 has been set at 7 lakh 90 thousand 648. As compared to this target, housing has been approved to 3 lakh beneficiaries till 5 March 2025. Also, a lump sum assistance amount has been paid under the first installment. So far, an expenditure of Rs 1 thousand 200 crore has been made on this.
In this episode, in the program organized on Monday, a lump sum payment of the first installment assistance amount at the rate of Rs 40 thousand was made to 75,295 beneficiaries. A total of Rs 301 crore 18 lakh was spent on this. In the next 100 days, these beneficiaries will be paid at the rate of Rs 80 thousand in the form of second and third installments. Also, these beneficiaries will be given Rs 22,050 as unskilled labour for 90 days through MNREGA and Rs 12,000 for toilet construction from Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan. Thus, Rs 1 lakh 54 thousand 50 will be given to each beneficiary.
On this occasion, departmental secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh, Himanshu Sharma, Abhilasha Kumari Sharma and others were present.
7 lakh 24 thousand 230 houses approved so far
Thus, till now, approval has been given for construction of houses for 7 lakh 24 thousand 230 families. In this, the first installment has been paid to 6 lakh 30 thousand 49 beneficiaries, the second installment to 2 lakh 01 thousand 082 beneficiaries and the third installment to 1 lakh 21 thousand 539 beneficiaries. Till now, 58 thousand 409 houses have been completed.
Assistance is given in three installments
A total assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh is given to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin in three installments based on the progress of housing construction. In this scheme, 60 percent of the amount is borne by the Center and 40 percent by the State Government. Thus, 40 percent i.e. Rs 48 thousand will be given to the beneficiaries as state share.
