Former Pilot and BJP Youth Leader Takes on Wrestler-Turned-Politician Vinesh Phogat in Haryana Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced its second list of 21 candidates for the upcoming Haryana elections. The party also announced a candidate from Julana seat, from where Congress candidate and wrestler Vinesh Phogat is contesting. The party has fielded Captain Yogesh Bairagi from this seat. According to his Facebook account, Bairagi is a newly joined party member.
His Facebook profile also describes him as a former pilot. It also states that he is a resident of Safidon City in the Jind district of Haryana. The BJP list includes former ministers Krishan Kumar Bedi and Manish Grover from Narwana and Rohtak seats. It has fielded Pawan Saini, considered close to Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, from the Narayangarh seat, while Satpal Jambha has been nominated to contest from Pundri.
35-year-old Yogesh is a leader who is known for his service in many important moments in the party. No one can forget his participation in rescue and relief operations during the Chennai floods. He also participated actively during the Vande Bharat Mission. He came forward to help the Government of India in bringing back Indian citizens stranded abroad during the Covid-19 pandemic.
His admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, especially the success of the Vande Bharat Mission, inspired him to join the BJP. Yogesh, a resident of Safidon in the Jind district of Haryana, is currently serving as the vice-president of the youth wing of Haryana BJP. His decision to enter politics was largely influenced by the challenges of his native village, especially the issue of unemployment, which forced him to think about politics.
