Bihar Approves ₹387.4 Crore for Irrigation Projects in Nalanda Under Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan
16 schemes to restore irrigation for 4,785 hectares, boosting agriculture and water conservation across eight blocks in Nalanda district.;

Under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan under the financial year 2024-25, the Minor Water Resources Department of the Government of Bihar has given administrative approval to 16 schemes in Nalanda district. A total of Rs 3874.661 lakh will be spent on these schemes. Through these schemes, renovation work of Ahar-Pain and Pokhars is being done, which will restore the irrigation facility of 4785 hectares of agricultural land in the district. A target has been set to complete these projects by June 2025.
The benefit of these schemes will be available to 8 blocks of Nalanda district - Nagarnausa, Bihar Sharif, Karayparshurai, Bind, Ekangarasarai, Harnaut, Nursarai and Islampur. The schemes being run in these areas are as follows-

1. Nagarnausa:
(a) Comprehensive renovation work of Bhobhi Pain- Estimated amount- Rs. 97.86 lakhs, irrigation capacity- 180 hectares
(b) Comprehensive renovation work of Kachiama Pain- Estimated amount- Rs. 348.874 lakhs, irrigation capacity- 220 hectares
(c) Renovation work of Bhoothakhad, Chishtipur, Mushari, Parsadiha Pain- Estimated amount- Rs. 349. 398 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity-400 hectares
(d) Renovation work of Muniampur Hayatpur Pain Scheme- Estimated amount- 266.261 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity- 308 hectares
(e) Comprehensive renovation work of Khiru Bigha, Wajitpur Pain- Estimated amount- 123.72 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity- 280 hectares
2. Bihar Sharif:
(a) Renovation work of Didi Tetrawa pond- Estimated amount- 404.73 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity- 160 hectares
b) Renovation work of Tetrawa pond- Estimated amount- 226.591 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity- 150 hectares
3. Karayparshuray:
(a) Comprehensive renovation work of Diama Pain Scheme- Estimated amount- 190.482 lakh Rs., irrigation capacity-240 hectares
(b) Renovation work of Diyawan pond-Estimated amount-96.566 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity-105 hectares
4. Point:
(a) Renovation work of Govindpur Barhog Pain-Estimated amount-191.67 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity-245 hectares
(b) Renovation work of Katharahi, Ishwarchak, Lalubigha Pain-Estimated amount-211.626 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity-310 hectares
5. Ekangarasarai:
(a) Renovation work of Pansghi pond-Estimated amount-158.619 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity-120 hectares
(b) Renovation work of Tarapur Pain scheme-Estimated amount-202.235 lakh rupees, irrigation capacity-987 hectares
6. Harnaut:
(a) Comprehensive renovation work of Bangachha Telmar Pain Scheme, estimated cost- Rs. 506.268 lakhs, irrigation capacity- 500 hectares
7. Nursarai:
(a) Restoration work of Andhana, Shankarpur and Sardar Bigha Ahar-Pain- estimated cost- Rs. 367. 68 lakhs, irrigation capacity- 410 hectares
8. Islampur:
(a) Restoration work of Pilkhi Pain- estimated cost- Rs. 132.081 lakhs, irrigation capacity- 170 hectares
The Minor Water Resources Department implements schemes with command area up to 2000 hectares, under which irrigation facilities are provided to farmers through surface irrigation scheme and groundwater irrigation scheme.
The government is giving priority to surface irrigation schemes under Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan and Har Khet Tak Irrigation Ka Paani program. These schemes will not only increase agricultural production but will also help in conservation of groundwater level and revival of water resources
