Bihar Achieves Major Milestone in Irrigation Expansion Under Saat Nishchay-2

1,307 schemes implemented, providing irrigation to over 5.8 lakh hectares; Water Resources Department continues efforts to enhance water access for farmers.;

Under Saat Nishchay-2, under the program 'Irrigation water to every field', through a joint technical survey, the Water Resources Department was given the target of providing irrigation facility in about 1.19 lakh hectares of area through the implementation of 604 schemes. Out of this target, the Water Resources Department has so far completed 597 schemes and provided irrigation facility in more than 1.18 lakh hectares of area. The implementation of the remaining schemes is in progress.

With the objective of providing irrigation water to every field, apart from the above schemes, 774 other schemes were selected for implementation, through which a target was set to provide irrigation facility in a total of about 5.46 lakh hectares of area. Out of these, 710 schemes have been completed so far and irrigation facility has been provided in 4.62 lakh hectares of area. The implementation of the remaining schemes is in progress.

In this way, with the objective of providing 'irrigation water to every field', the Water Resources Department has so far implemented a total of 1307 schemes and provided irrigation facility in more than 5.80 lakh hectares of area. This is a unique irrigation achievement achieved in a short period in the state. The Water Resources Department is working diligently to continuously strengthen the irrigation facility by better managing the river water available in the state.
