According to media reports, about 700 farmers have been detained at Khanauri border. At the same time, Punjab Police took farmer leaders Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher into custody in Mohali. During this, there was also a clash between the police and farmers.
At the same time, after the clash between the police and the farmers, internet service has also been suspended in Khanauri border and surrounding districts. Apart from this, internet service has been suspended in many areas of Punjab.
Patiala SSP Nanak Singh said that farmers have been protesting at the Shambhu border for a long time. In the presence of the duty magistrate, the police evacuated the area after giving them proper warning. Some people expressed their desire to go home. So they were sent home by boarding a bus. Apart from this, the structures and vehicles here are being removed.
He said that the entire road would be cleared and opened for traffic. Haryana Police will also start its action. As soon as the road opens from their side, movement on the highway will resume. We did not need to use any kind of force as there was no protest. The farmers cooperated well and they boarded the buses.
