Telangana plans strategic Dry Port to power growth for next 100 years
CM Revanth Reddy reviews key projects, urges fast-tracking of Greenfield Road and RRR Development;

Hyderabad, Apr 11: The Telangana Government has decided to develop a ‘Dry Port’ that will cater to the state's logistical and industrial needs for the next 100 years. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who chaired a high-level review meeting on the ongoing infrastructure projects and the construction of national highways, directed officials to initiate the design process for the proposed Dry Port. He stressed that the Dry Port must be established in a strategically suitable location near the Regional Ring Road (RRR).
With the Union Home Secretary giving in-principle approval for preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Hyderabad–Vijayawada Greenfield Road project, the Chief Minister urged officials to prioritize this initiative and expedite its planning and implementation.
He also instructed the concerned departments to fast-track land acquisition for the northern segment of the Regional Ring Road and ensure that the DPR consultancy report for the southern portion is finalized without delay. Additionally, Revanth Reddy directed officials to draft a proposal for a new National Highway linking Hyderabad to Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, and submit it to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Further, he emphasized the need to propose another National Highway connecting Hyderabad and Mancherial. The Chief Minister inquired about the issues encountered during the land acquisition process for national highway projects across the state. Officials informed him that the NHAI has not agreed to provide compensation for the loss of standing crops in several affected areas.
Acknowledging that the harvest season is nearly over, Revanth Reddy instructed that land acquisition should be completed promptly through proper dialogue with farmers. He asked Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to convene meetings with respective District Collectors to address any land acquisition obstacles, including resolving legal and technical concerns.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of strengthening connectivity by focusing on the development of radial roads — connecting the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the Regional Ring Road (RRR), and extending from the RRR to the Telangana state borders.
