IIM Graduates Choose Bihar's Dairy Cooperative for Careers in Unprecedented Numbers
Comfed Recruits 19 Students from Top Management Institute as Part of Plan to Double Business to Rs 10,000 Crore;

For the first time, students from top management institutes like IIM have started their jobs in Bihar in large numbers.
19 students of IIM Bodh Gaya have joined Bihar State Milk Co-operative Federation (Comfed). They have been selected by Comfed through campus placement. The arrival of IIM students in such large numbers to serve in Comfed shows that now the job opportunities in Bihar have increased a lot.
Comfed is the top cooperative institution for the development of dairy in Bihar, it sells 30 lakh liters of milk collected daily from 14.45 lakh cattle rearing members of the state and various products made from it under the name of Sudha brand in Bihar, Jharkhand, North-Eastern states, Delhi NCR as well as Calcutta, Siliguri in West Bengal, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.
Currently, tin packs of Gulab Jamun have been sent by Comfed to Canada and ghee to the US market, in this way it is the third cooperative institution in the dairy sector of the country which is selling its products in the international market.
Comfed, which has been working for the economic prosperity of its milk producers since its inception, currently provides its milk producers Rs. 3,000 crores every year as milk price.
For the first time to expand its business, Comfed has selected and appointed 19 management graduates from Indian Institute of Management Bodhgaya i.e. IIM Bodhgaya. Along with them, it has selected 05 students from Chandragupta Institute of Management Patna, 01 from Vikas Prabandhan Sansthan Patna, 06 from L.N. Mishra Economic Development and Social Change Institute Patna.
At present COMFED is providing employment to approximately 4000 persons directly and 40,000 persons indirectly, which is targeted to be increased to 12000 persons directly and 1,20,000 persons indirectly in the next five years and the target is to increase COMFED's business from presently Rs. 5500 crores to Rs. 10,000 crores. Besides this, the target is to market COMFED's brand Sudha internationally in addition to the US and Canada, in South East Asian, Arab and South African countries as well.
Dr. N. Vijayalakshmi, Additional Chief Secretary, Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, Government of Bihar informed that "Comfed is continuously increasing its marketing area with its quality products, due to which the annual business of Comfed is increasing gradually. Due to this, the income of the farmers associated with Comfed is also increasing. To increase its business, Comfed has brought some new products like Anarsa, Cow Ghee, Thermo Pack Peda, Thermo Pack Paneer, Petjar Ghee, Misti Doi etc. in the market. Also, to achieve future goals in the competitive market, for the first time Comfed has selected 19 management graduates from Indian Institute of Management, Bodh Gaya. Apart from this, new candidates have also been selected from other institutions and this process is ongoing.
