Supreme Court Enforces Online Classes for All Students in Delhi-NCR Amid Severe Air Pollution
GRAP-4 Strictly Implemented as AQI Levels Cross Hazardous Threshold, Governments Directed to Act Immediately
The Supreme Court has ordered that all classes up to 12th in Delhi-NCR will be in online mode. In Delhi, all the classes except 10th and 12th class were already done in online mode. But now the apex court has also ordered to close the class of 10th and 12th and do it in online mode.
The Supreme Court said that we direct all the governments of the NCR region to strictly implement GRAP 4. All states will immediately form teams to monitor the necessary work under GRAP 4. NCR state governments and the central government should immediately decide on the steps given in GRAP 4 and place them before us before the next hearing.
SC said that the Delhi government and other governments are directed to set up a complaint redressal system for GRAP 4. CAQM should look into the complaints immediately. The court said that we make it clear that the implementation of GRAP 4 will continue till the next order of this court, even if the AQI goes below 450. Also said that all the state and central governments should file their affidavit by Thursday.
Let us tell you that air pollution in Delhi has reached dangerous levels. AQI 481 was recorded on Monday. Because of this, GRAP-4 has been implemented in the national capital from today. After the AQI reached 450 on Sunday, it was decided to implement GRAP 4, but the situation worsened this morning and AQI was recorded at 500 and close to it in many places including Dwarka and Najafgarh. At the same time, the condition of NCR is also similar. AQI 384 was recorded in Noida, 400 in Ghaziabad, 446 in Gurugram and 336 in Faridabad.
