Bihar Completes Grid Substation Maintenance to Ensure Uninterrupted Summer Power Supply

Maintenance work of all grid substations has been completed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during summer in the state. Engineers of Bihar State Power Transmission Company headquarters and regional offices have jointly maintained about 445 power transformers of various types and related electrical equipment in 157 grid substations in the last month. Maintenance of power plants becomes necessary for safe and uninterrupted power supply to consumers in the changing weather.

According to official sources of the company, to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation in grid substations, regular inspection of substation equipment is done to monitor their working condition, detect problems and resolve faults immediately. Generally, complete maintenance of substation equipment is done in grid substations during winter session so that uninterrupted power supply can be provided to consumers.

The engineers of grid substation take timely shutdown of transformer from SLDC and do maintenance of transformer (like tightening of nut bolts, cleaning of dust particles deposited on body and bush of transformer, repair of oil leakage, checking of health of silica gel, checking of oil level in OTC tank of conservator tank, cleaning and checking of switches, ammeter, voltmeter, etc. installed in the control panel related to transformer).

During this maintenance, tower to tower patrolling of the line is done by the engineers related to transmission line, in which work like jumper tightening, installation of missing tower member, removal of cross, wild creepers climbing on tower, etc. is done.
