Delhi Government Declares Public Holiday for Chhath Puja on November 7
CM Atishi Approves LG's Proposal to Allow Residents to Celebrate the Festival of Faith
The four-day grand festival of faith i.e. 'Chhath Puja' will start on November 5 with Nahai-Khai. In view of the festival, social organizations have started preparations. The work of cleaning and beautifying the ghats has started. Meanwhile, big news has come out for the people of Delhi. A public holiday has been declared on November 7 for Chhath Puja in the city.
Let us tell you that Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had written a letter to Chief Minister Atishi and requested to declare a public holiday on November 7, the day of Chhath Arghya. This proposal of LG was approved by the Delhi government. Before declaring a public holiday, Chhath Puja was included in the list of restricted holidays of the Delhi government.
The Lieutenant Governor had written in a letter to Atishi that the festival of Chhath is celebrated for 4 days. In which the third day is very important. He further wrote this day falling on 7 November is already on the list of restricted holidays. I request that it be declared as a complete holiday. The Delhi government responded to this letter from LG in less than an hour.
Chief Minister Atishi wrote on X, I am happy to inform you that the Delhi government has decided that there will be a holiday on the festival of Chhath on 7 November. So that all the brothers and sisters of Purvanchal can celebrate the festival of Chhath with pomp and show.
