On September 9, AAP released the first list of candidates. It had the names of 20 candidates. AAP has unilaterally announced the names of the candidates at a time when there was talk of its alliance with Congress. AAP had given Congress time till Monday to clarify the situation regarding the alliance and seat-sharing formula. Voting will be held on October 5 for 90 seats of Haryana Assembly. The election results will be declared on October 8.
For the last few days, AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha and Congress Lok Sabha MP from Kerala's Alappuzha seat KC Venugopal were talking about the alliance. There have been 3 meetings between Congress-AAP regarding the alliance. Under the INDIA alliance, AAP was demanding 10 seats from Congress. Whereas Congress had told AAP to take 4 to 5 seats. Congress has offered 4+1 formula i.e. 5 seats to AAP. These include Jind, Kalayat, Panipat (rural), Gurugram and Pehowa seats. However, AAP was adamant on the demand for 10 seats including the Old Faridabad seat.
