The network of international criminals and their capture is going to be easier now. Against criminals who commit crimes in India and flee abroad or run a crime syndicate in India while sitting abroad, the state police will now get a powerful weapon like Interpol.

The Home Ministry is going to start 'Bharatpol' in India, which will open the way for sharing information about criminals along the lines of Interpol and take immediate action against them. It will be launched on January 7 by Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. Let us know how it will work, why it is needed and what will be the benefits.

What is Bharatpol?

The purpose of Bharatpol is not only to catch criminals but to tighten the noose against them in time and eradicate crime from its roots. It is an advanced online portal, which has been prepared by the CBI. Its trial has been done. It is just yet to be formally launched.

What is Interpol?

INTERPOL i.e. International Criminal Police Organization, is the world's largest international police organization. This is an organization that coordinates between the police of all countries at the international level. It is an organization of investigation agencies of 195 countries.

Through this information about criminals is exchanged and international notices are issued to catch them. CBI is associated with it from India's side. Its officers are appointed there. The organization has been working since 1923. Interpol's headquarters is in Lyon city of France.

How does Interpol work?

Suppose a man committed a crime in India. Then he fled to another country. Now the problem is that the claim of Indian police does not work in that country. In such a situation, Interpol will work to catch the criminal. India will give the accused information to Interpol. Then a notice will be issued there in his name. Interpol issues various types of notices, but two are the most important. One is the yellow notice, which is for missing persons. The other is the red notice for wanted criminals/accused individuals.

Why is Bharatpol needed?

In India, state police and investigation agencies often have to resort to Interpol to get information about criminals hiding abroad or to catch them. In the current process, the state government has to first contact the CBI. After this, the CBI contacts Interpol and gets the necessary notice issued. This whole process is not only complicated but also takes a lot of time.

Bharatpol is being launched to solve this problem. With its help, the process of issuing red notices, diffusion notices and other necessary Interpol notices against criminals will become faster and simpler. Currently, if the states want to track their requests, they have to email or fax the CBI again, but the police will be able to track the requests directly on Bharatpol.

Will Bharatpol be able to issue notices?

No, Interpol will issue the notice. When information or the location of a criminal is to be found, the police will be able to send a request directly to Interpol through Bharatpol. If INTERPOL accepts the request, a Red Notice, Diffusion Notice, or other types of notices will be issued against the offender in question. BharatPol aims to make communication with INTERPOL accessible and quick.
