Bihar’s First Modern Crematorium Nears Completion in Patna’s Bansghat

Bihar's first modern crematorium is being built in Bansghat, Patna. The new crematorium will be ready in May at a cost of Rs 89.40 crore on about 4.5 acres of land in the capital Patna. After this it will be inaugurated.

Cremation ground equipped with modern facilities

According to the engineer of the construction company Budko, earlier the crematorium was only on 1.24 acres. It lacked many essential facilities. The new crematorium will be equipped with modern techniques and there will be four electric cremation units, six wood-based and eight traditional cremation sites. All kinds of facilities for cremation will be available here at one place.

These special facilities will be available:

- Two ponds for immersion of ashes and bathing

- Water will come from the Ganga river to these two ponds with the help of pipeline

- Two waiting rooms, two prayer halls and two worship halls

- 6 block toilets, one office and 2 changing rooms

- One administrative office, canteen, temple and staff quarters

- 40 square meter sub-station

- Mortuary, parking, internal roads and public announcement system

- Canteen, temple, staff quarters and 40 square meter sub-quarter

- Mortuary, parking, road, mantra/sloka and public announcement system in the premises

Renovation of old crematorium

Under the renovation of old crematorium, vending zone and waiting room, 1 block toilet, changing room, parking and sitting shed are being built in 4 thousand 260 square meters. Arrangement for immersion of ashes in traditional crematorium, Ganga water showers have also been made. Completion of this project will provide state-of-the-art cremation facilities to the citizens of Patna and surrounding areas, making the place more organized and environmentally friendly.
