The Bihar government has started the e-gram kachhari system to provide quick justice to the rural people and save them from the hassle of court. With the aim of providing accessible justice, not only is it making the judicial processes simple and effective in the villages of the state. Rather, it is also setting an example in providing government services to the citizens through e-governance.

22 thousand 684 cases registered so far

A total of 22 thousand 684 cases have been registered in the state so far. With the facility of online registration of cases, Bihar has become the first state in the country where such a system has been implemented. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched this state-of-the-art justice system on 24 October 2024, which is now working effectively in the villages. According to the information received from the department, a total of 22 thousand 684 cases have been registered in 38 districts of the state so far. These include both civil and criminal cases. Out of these, 11,941 are civil and 10,743 are criminal cases. Due to the promptness and reformist policies of the government, 5,353 cases have been successfully resolved so far.

Active judicial process in East Champaran

East Champaran is leading in terms of the number of cases registered in the state. A total of 1,427 cases have been registered in 396 gram panchayats of this district, which include 497 civil and 930 criminal cases. Due to the activeness of the justice delivery system, 157 civil and 334 criminal cases have been successfully resolved so far.

Positive progress in Muzaffarpur and Aurangabad

1,337 cases have been registered in Muzaffarpur district, which include 591 civil and 746 criminal cases. Efforts are being made to further strengthen the judicial process at the panchayat level, which will further speed up the resolution of cases. At the same time, a total of 1,278 cases have been registered in Aurangabad district, out of which 971 civil and 307 criminal cases have been settled.

Least number of cases in these districts

Sheikhpura, Shivhar and Arwal are the districts where the least number of cases was found. A total of 95 cases have been registered in Sheikhpura, 111 in Shivhar and 137 in Arwal. This is a positive sign towards administrative efficiency and good governance.

Improvement in justice process through e-gram kachhari system

Out of a total of 22 thousand 684 cases registered in the state, 2,503 civil and 2,850 criminal cases have been settled. These figures show that the government's digital judicial reforms and administrative efforts at the panchayat level are having a positive impact.

Gram Kachhari organized on Tuesday and Friday

To speed up the judicial process, the Bihar government organizes Gram Kachhari in the Gram Panchayat every Tuesday and Friday. Along with this, the recruitment of Gram Kachhari Secretary and Nyaya Mitra has also started. The government is making continuous efforts to make extensive use of digital system, strengthen the judicial system at the Panchayat level and facilitate the dispute resolution process.

These reforms will make it easier for the general public to get quick and transparent justice and another strong step can be taken towards good governance in the state. This initiative of the Bihar government is proving to be a historic step towards making justice more effective and accessible at the rural level.
