The Bihar government has achieved another major achievement in the direction of rural development. Under the Chief Minister Rural Path Maintenance (Repair) Program, maintenance work of 6043 km of roads has been completed in the year 2024-25. An amount of Rs 3059 crore was spent on this work, while a total of Rs 3294 crore was sanctioned to the department for this.

This program is now being operated under the 'Bihar Rural Path Maintenance Policy 2018'. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that even after the construction of the road, they are maintained regularly, so that there is no reduction in quality and connectivity of villages is maintained. This policy is playing an important role in strengthening the rural infrastructure of the state.

According to official data, investment under this scheme is increasing every year. While only Rs 106 crore was spent in the year 2006-07, it increased to Rs 3059 crore in 2024-25. This shows the commitment of the state government towards rural roads.

With the implementation of this scheme, there has been a clear improvement in the condition of roads in rural areas. Due to better roads, farmers are getting more convenience than ever to reach the market, students to schools and villagers to health services.

Mukhyamantri Gramin Path Maintenance Program is becoming a strong base for the development of rural Bihar today. It is not only improving the connecting roads, but is also contributing to the overall development of the state by connecting the villages to the mainstream.
