People called him 'Tingu', Aamir Khan was insecure about his height; how he got rid of that inferiority complex
Aamir Khan shared, "Initially I used to think that people will not accept me because of my height, but later I realized that honesty of work matters more than appearance.
Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan has revealed his insecurities about his height at the start of his career. The actor admitted this while speaking to Nana Patekar for the promotion of his new film Vanvaas. At 5 feet 5 inches tall, Aamir is shorter than the average Bollywood 'hero' which used to bother him when he was working in lead roles in the late 80s.
While speaking to Nana Patekar on Zee Music Company's YouTube channel, Aamir was asked if he had 'any inferiority complex' about his height. Aamir replied, "Yes, I did. I used to think what if people don't accept me because of my height. That was my fear. But later I realised that all this does not matter at all. But at that time some kind of insecurity sets in."
This is not the first time Aamir has spoken about his insecurity about his height. While promoting his film Talaash in 2012, he said that people used to call him 'Tingu' (slang).
The actor then said that as he progressed in his career, he realized that appearance does not matter to connect with fans. He said, "The things that stress us in the beginning, later we realize that these things do not matter at all. What is important is how sincerely you are working and how your work can attract people and after that nothing else matters."
Aamir was last seen on the big screen in the 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha. Laal Singh Chaddha, the official remake of Oscar-winner Forrest Gump, was heavily criticized by critics and performed poorly at the box office. Aamir will now be seen on the big screen in Taare Zameen Par, which is a sequel to his popular and well-liked 2007 film Taare Zameen Par.
