Jaat Controversy: FIR Filed Against Sunny Deol and Randeep Hooda for Scene in 'Jaat' Film
Jalandhar Police Register Case Under Section 299 as Christian Community Claims Church Scene Hurts Religious Sentiments;

The controversy over the recently released film 'Jaat' has heated up. After the controversy over the objectionable scene in 'Jaat', a complaint has been filed in Punjab against Bollywood actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh. A scene from their recently released film has been accused of hurting religious sentiments.
In this regard, Jalandhar Police on Wednesday registered an FIR against Sunny Deol, Randeep and the makers under Section 299 (deliberate and malicious act with intent to hurt religious feelings) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). A case has also been registered against the film's director Gopichand Malineni and its producers. The complainant said that a scene from the film, released on April 10, has "deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the entire Christian community".
According to media, a case has been registered at Jalandhar's Sadar police station against Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, director Gopichand Malineni and producer of the film Jaat Naveen Yerneni under section 299 BNS for hurting religious sentiments. In the complaint given to the police, the complainant alleged that the religious sentiments of the Christian community have been hurt by showing a scene similar to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ in the film 'Jaat'.
The scene in 'Jaat' allegedly shows actor Randeep Hooda's character (villain role) standing under the cross inside the church, standing right above the holy stage while people are praying. It allegedly shows a scene of hooliganism and threats inside the church, which the Christian community termed as extremely insulting. Earlier, members of the Christian community had objected to the scene and threatened to ban the film. Many of them said that the scene is equivalent to desecrating the most sacred place of the church - 'the stage.'
Meanwhile, 'Jaat' is doing good business at the box office. The film grossed around Rs 61.50 crore in its first week and is now gearing up to clash with Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari 2' which opens this weekend. Jaat is directed by Malineni and stars Randeep Hooda and Sunny Deol in the lead roles. 'Jaat' is produced by Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory, who made 'Pushpa 2'.
