Famous music composer and singer AR Rahman is considered a master of the music world. Now his name has come up in a case. AR Rahman is accused of stealing music. In this case, the Delhi High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 2 crore on Rahman.
This case is about the song 'Veera Raja Veera' from the South film 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' directed by Mani Ratnam. Aishwarya Rai and Chiyan Vikram and Trisha along with other stars were seen in this film. Regarding this song, singer Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar had filed a petition in the court regarding copyright, in which case the Delhi High Court has directed AR Rahman and the makers of the film 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' to deposit Rs 2 crore in the court.
Accused of copying the song, renowned classical singer Ustad Faiyazuddin had filed a petition in the court in 2023 in which he claimed that the song 'Veer Raja Veer' from 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' is a copy of 'Shiva Stuti' composed by his father Naseer Faiyazuddin Dagar and uncle Zahiruddin Dagar. The song of the film has been composed by AR Rahman. Regarding this, Dagar had demanded a ban on Rahman and Madras Talkies, among others, from using the song in the film.
During the hearing, the court found that the song 'Veera Raja Veera' is very similar to 'Shiva Stuti'. After which the Justice had asked the makers and Rahman to give credit to the Dagar family. Due to this, now the court has ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 2 crore and Rs 2 lakh to the Dagar family.
