Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) jumped to death from the 19th floor of his apartment building in Noida on Thursday morning.
Noida, February 15, 2024: In a tragic incident, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) jumped to death from the 19th floor of his apartment building in Noida on Thursday morning.
The deceased, identified as Amit Gandotra, was 39 years old and lived in the Lotus Boulevard society in Sector 100 with his wife and son.
According to the police, Gandotra took the elevator to the 19th floor of the building while talking on his mobile phone at around 9 am. He then jumped off the building.
He was rushed to a hospital in Sector 128 in a critical condition, but was declared dead by doctors.
The reason for the suicide is still unknown. No suicide note was found near Gandotra's body.
The police have questioned his family and colleagues, but no clear motive has emerged yet.
CCTV footage from the apartment shows Gandotra leaving his flat on the third floor and taking the elevator to the 19th floor. He is then seen jumping off the building.
Initial investigations have not revealed any family problems. However, the police are investigating whether professional stress may have played a role in his death.
