Vigilance Bureau Arrests DDPO, Private Person for Embezzling Rs 40.85 Lakh in Govt Grants

Chandigarh:The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Kulwinder Singh Randhawa, DDPO of Fatehgarh Sahib, and Hanspal, a private individual, for embezzling government grants worth Rs 40,85,175 pertaining to Amloh block and gram panchayats.
According to an official spokesperson of the state VB, a case (FIR No. 37, dated August 9, 2024) has been registered at VB police station, Patiala range, under sections 409, 120-B of the IPC and 13 (1) read with 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act against five persons, including Kulwinder Singh Randhawa, the then BDPO of Amloh. The accused are charged with misappropriating government funds by illegally releasing them in the name of private firms and individuals.
The spokesperson informed that Randhawa and Hanspal have been arrested and will be produced in court tomorrow. Further investigation into the case is underway.
