Mother and Teenage Daughter Killed as Car Plows Into Family Sleeping Roadside in Gorakhpur

A mother-daughter duo were killed, and five other members of the family were injured when a car hit them while they were sleeping on the roadside in Bhagwanpur village of the Gulharia area of Gorakhpur district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Saturday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the accident that took place on Balapar Road in Gorakhpur district. He has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.

He has directed the district administration officials to send the injured to the hospital immediately and to provide them proper treatment. Along with this, he has also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Police sources said that seven members of a family were sleeping on the roadside after having dinner due to the heat on Friday night.

"The car crushed them, in which all were seriously injured. They were brought to Baba Raghav Das Medical College for treatment, where Saida Khatun (35) and her daughter Sufia (15) died," they said.

Police sources said that the police reached the spot and took the car into custody and are interrogating one person.
