UGC Approves Twice-a-Year Admissions in Colleges, Universities From 2024-25

The move aims to provide flexibility to students who miss July-August session, boost employment opportunities via two campus placement drives annually

UGC has made a big announcement regarding admission in colleges or universities. Now admission will be given twice a year in the colleges or universities of the country. UGC has approved this. Giving this information, UGC Chairman M. Jagdish Kumar said that from the academic session 2024-25, students will be given a chance to take admission twice a year. Under this, the admission process will be conducted in July-August and January-February.

Announcing this, Chairman Jagdish Kumar said that many students who are unable to take admission in the July-August session due to some reason like delay in results, health problems or other personal reasons. Such students will avoid wasting time. They will get a chance to get admission in the January session. Apart from this, he said that this will increase employment opportunities. That is, now campus placement will not happen only once like before, but the college will now be able to give jobs to twice the number of students under the placement process twice a year. Now students will not have to wait for a year for placement. This will give positive motivation to the students, which will promote employment. Apart from undergraduate and postgraduate students, all diploma students will be included in this.

Chairman Jagdish Kumar said that in universities of many other countries, admission process is conducted twice a year. Now if higher education institutions of India adopt this process, then international cooperation and exchange of students will be easy. This process will improve competition to a great extent. We will get a chance to move forward at the global level. Along with this, administrative systems, resources and plans will be used properly.
