In a bid to accelerate the growth of green jobs and promote sustainable development, the Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WRI India. The MoU was exchanged in New Delhi on April 2 between SCGJ’s Chief Executive Officer, Arpit Sharma, and WRI India’s CEO, Madhav Pai.

This knowledge partnership aims to strengthen India’s green skilling ecosystem, with a particular focus on women and underserved communities. This collaborative research effort seeks to advance skill development in emerging green sectors such as electric vehicles, energy storage, green hydrogen, and distributed renewable energy.

Under this collaboration, SCGJ and WRI India will jointly undertake research to identify future skill development needs and gaps, develop training materials, and facilitate initiatives to expand the reach of green skilling programs across states.

“India’s green transition is an opportunity to create millions of jobs. Through this partnership with WRI India, we aim to strengthen green skilling programs, align workforce capabilities with industry demands, and unlock employment opportunities in emerging green sectors,” said Arpit Sharma, CEO of SCGJ.

Madhav Pai, CEO of WRI India, added: “As India advances towards a low-carbon developed economy, equipping its workforce with the right skills will be key to unlocking new opportunities in green sectors. Through this partnership with Skill Council for Green Jobs, we will use research-driven insights to strengthen green skilling and prepare India’s workforce towards the future green economy”

By leveraging their respective expertise, both organisations hope to support the creation of sustainablelivelihood opportunities while addressing India’s growing demand for skilled professionals in green industries.
