Hemant Soren Cabinet Formation: What’s the New Ministerial Formula in Jharkhand?
Delay in cabinet formation sparks speculation as Congress and JMM adjust to changed dynamics and seat allocations.
The Mahagathbandhan has got a majority in the Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024. The alliance has won a total of 56 seats out of 81 assembly seats in the state. On November 28, Hemant Soren has once again taken oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, but the cabinet has not been formed yet. This time the new government will look different compared to the previous government of Hemant Soren. There are 2 major reasons for this. The first reason is the defeat of four ministers of the government and the second reason is the entry of a new party in the alliance.
12 ministers including the Chief Minister can be made in Jharkhand. Last time the post of Chief Minister and 6 ministerial posts were given to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. At the same time, 4 ministerial posts were given to Congress and one ministerial post to RJD. Last time in Jharkhand, one ministerial post was kept for 4 MLAs. Due to this formula, Congress got 4 and JMM got 7 posts. At the same time, RJD was given one ministerial post.
News has surfaced that a new formula has been adopted to get ministry in the Hemant Soren cabinet this time. There has been a change in the number of seats and it is being said that this time the support of about 5 MLAs is required for one ministerial post. In this regard, the number of ministerial posts in the quota of Congress may decrease. Congress has 16 MLAs. At the same time, JMM has won 34 seats in these elections.
Taking a dig at the delay in Hemant Soren's cabinet expansion in Jharkhand, BJP said that there is a tussle for ministerial posts in the alliance.
When asked about no other minister taking oath after the swearing-in, Congress MLA from Bihar Pratima Das said, "Everything is fine. The government has been formed. Now the cabinet will be expanded. This happens everywhere. There is no problem in the alliance."
However, it has been a long time since the swearing-in and despite this, the cabinet not being formed is giving rise to many kinds of speculations.
