Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Condemns Recent Terrorist Attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Assures Robust Security Response
"Security Forces on High Alert as Encounters Continue Across the Valley; Decrease in Attacks Compared to Past," Says Singh
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has described the recent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir as "unfortunate". He said there was no lapse in security. Security forces are responding decisively to the terrorists. The defence minister claimed that there had been a decrease in attacks in the valley compared to the past. "This is not an issue of lapse in security. There have been fewer attacks than before," Singh told reporters in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
"Our security forces are on alert. There will be an opportunity when terrorist activities will end from Jammu and Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir will develop rapidly," he said. "The attacks in Jammu and Kashmir were unfortunate, our security forces are also responding decisively, so many terrorists have been killed."
Encounters are taking place at several places in Jammu and Kashmir. Four persons, including two CRPF personnel, were injured in an encounter between security forces and militants in the Khanyar area of Srinagar. In Bandipora district, security forces killed two militants.
Militants opened fire on two non-Kashmiris in Majhama in the Magam area of Badgam district on Friday. Security forces cordoned off the entire area to nab the militants. On October 29, after an attack on an army convoy, security forces killed three militants in an encounter in Akhnoor.On October 20, militants attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway in Ganderbal district, killing six workers.
