Violence Escalates Between Kuki and Meitei Communities; NIA Investigates Critical Cases Amid Deployment of Additional Security Forces

To restore peace and order in Manipur, the central government has instructed the security forces to take necessary steps. For the last few days, the situation in Manipur has remained delicate regarding the security issue. Armed miscreants of the conflicting Kuki and Meitei communities are involved in violence, due to which people are losing their lives. Public order is being disrupted. Along with this, the Home Ministry has handed over 3 cases of Manipur to NIA.

Case 1- Case of the encounter between CRPF and Kuki militants. Security forces killed 10 Kuki militants in an encounter in Jiribam, Manipur.

Case 2- The case of kidnapping of 6 people has also been handed over to NIA

Case 3- 3 bodies were found a few days after the kidnapping of 6 people in Jiribam. NIA has registered a separate case in this.

The Union Home Ministry is taking big steps to deal with the violence happening again in Manipur. Under this, 2000 CAPF personnel have been sent, if needed, more CAPF companies will be sent. Strict action will be taken against anyone trying to engage in violent and subversive activities in Manipur. Some cases have been handed over to the NIA for effective investigation.

Let us tell you that out of the 6 people missing (kidnapped) from Jiribam since Monday, the bodies of three were found on Friday evening in Jirimukh, located on the Assam-Manipur border. These people were kidnapped from the camp in Jiribam a few days ago. The bodies have been taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. Their bodies were seen floating in the Jiri River. A few days ago, in a major operation in Manipur, security forces killed at least 11 armed Kuki militants who had come to attack a police station in Borobakera in Jiribam district.
