Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan Extends Support for Dhussi Dam Repair
Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan donates Rs. 10 lakh for Dhussi Dam repair on Sutlej River, supporting Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal's initiative to protect crops and villages.
Chandigarh: In a commendable gesture, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has donated Rs. 10 lakh for the repair of Dhussi Dam on the Sutlej River. The dam, located in Jalandhar district's Gatta Mundi Kasu village, suffered a 1000 feet wide breach in July last year, affecting crops and residents of 30-35 villages.
Under the guidance of Member of Parliament Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, devotees completed the dam through Kar Seva. However, the embankment has weakened over time, necessitating repairs. Sant Seechewal has initiated the process of reinforcing the dam with soil at Dhussi Bann and Chha Basti, aided by the Sangat, to protect crops in the surrounding villages.
Speaker Sandhwan's contribution of Rs. 10 lakh will be utilized for fuel and maintenance of tractors and other equipment required for the repair work. This timely support ensures the timely completion of the project, mitigating potential damage to crops and property.
