COVID-19 4th Wave Wreaks Havoc In China, Europe; Should India Be Worried Too?
Corona virus is causing havoc in many countries of Asia and Europe. There has been a huge jump in the number of new cases of corona virus in the last week. Most patients are being found in China, South Korea and Germany. A sub-variant of Omicron is believed to be the reason behind the rapidly increasing cases of corona. A new sub-variant Stealth Omicron (Stealth) has surfaced. It is also known as BA.2. Omicron's subvariant BA-2 has led to a huge increase in corona cases in Europe. At present, there is a huge decline in the cases of corona in India, But experts have already warned that there may be a fourth wave of corona in the country. In view of the increase in cases of corona in parts of Asia and Europe, the central government last week alerted the states to take precautionary measures to prevent the fourth wave of corona. In such a situation, the question arises whether there have been signs of the fourth wave of corona in the country. What do experts say? Dr. PN Arora says that there is a forecast of fourth wave coming in India. He said that most of the people in India have received both the doses of the vaccine. Dr. Arora said that once he got infected naturally. So even if the wave does come, the consequences in terms of hospitalizations and deaths will be manageable, provided no new variants of the virus are introduced. Dr. Arora said that the number of corona active patients in India is decreasing rapidly. Looking at the current situation, we cannot say with certainty about the arrival of a new wave in the future. He said that we cannot make any predictions about the future, as the likely new variant to come is unknown. However, he stressed that we must remain vigilant and collect data expeditiously so that effective and swift action can be taken. What is the report of IIT Kanpur Recently, a recent study by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur said that it is possible that the fourth wave of corona epidemic may start from June 22 and last till mid-August. Researchers at IIT Kanpur say that it is possible that the new variant of the virus will have a widespread effect. He said that the matter of concern is that its symptoms are also surprising. In the case of any variant of the corona, you may experience symptoms related to the stomach. But in Omicron BA-2 you may have to face bowel related problems. Patients suffering from Omicron BA-2 may experience symptoms like nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, abdominal pain, stomach irritation and bloating. Central government suggested to the states In view of the outbreak of Corona in many countries of Asia including China, the central government has suggested the states and union territories to continue focusing on the strategy five times more than before. This includes treatment, testing and vaccination and adherence to corona appropriate behaviour. The Center has also asked the states and union territories to ensure that adequate number of samples are submitted to the INSACOG network through sentinel sites as per the protocol.
