Vaibhav Suryavanshi: 13-Year-Old Cricket Prodigy Becomes Youngest Player in IPL History
Rajasthan Royals Bags Bihar’s Rising Star for ₹1.10 Crore After His Stunning Century Against Australia Juniors
On the second day of the two-day Indian Premier League mega auction (IPL 2025 mega auction) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who played for Bihar, created history. And he became the youngest player to be sold in the nearly 16-year history of the tournament. Certainly, it is a big achievement for any 13-year-old player to get a contract at this amount in the IPL.
When Vaibhav registered for the auction, he became the youngest player to register. Since then, the eyes of fans and experts were on Vaibhav. Due to his very young age, everyone was looking at him with eagerness. The competition for Vaibhav remained between two teams, Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals. And finally, Rajasthan, which has built a reputation of encouraging young players, left Delhi behind and took this "child player" in its team for Rs 1.10 crore.
Vaibhav has played five Ranji Trophy matches for his state Bihar so far, but the explosive innings in junior cricket which got him a place in the team, did not show the same effect in the initial matches. In five matches, Vaibha has been able to score only 100 runs at an average of 10. His best score has been 41. In this, he hit 18 fours and 2 sixes. It is clear that he is yet to make an impact, but the encouragement he has received from Rajasthan Royals, its effect will be seen in the Ranji Trophy matches.
Recently, a four-day unofficial test match was played between the Indian Under-19 team and Australia Junior in Chennai from 30 October to 2 November. In this match, Vaibhav started the innings and thrashed the visiting team. Vaibhav then played an innings of 104 runs in 62 balls with 14 fours and 4 sixes. And the echo of this innings reached the IPL franchise talent spot managers as well. And this innings helped Vaibhav a lot in getting Rs 1.10 crore.
