Punjab Kings have an important match against Kolkata Knight Riders today, but before the match, a bad news has come out for Shreyas Iyer's team. Fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, who is part of the team, is out of the entire tournament due to injury. He suffered a serious injury during the match played against Sunrisers Hyderabad, after which he left the field and did not return.

Punjab Kings bowling coach James Hopes said before the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium, "Ferguson is out indefinitely, I think, and us getting him back by the end of the tournament is a very low percentage. I think he's done a real decent injury to himself."

Ferguson was injured below the hip of his left leg while bowling the second ball of the sixth over in the match against Hyderabad. The physio came and treated him and after consultation, Ferguson left the field in the middle of the over. After this, he did not return. Hyderabad won that match by 8 wickets.

In IPL 2025, Ferguson was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 2 crore. He is considered one of the fastest bowlers in IPL history. While playing for Gujarat Titans, he bowled at a speed of 157.3 kmph. A few days ago, captain Shreyas Iyer also said that Lockie is a very important bowler for the team, as he consistently bowls at a speed of 140+.

In IPL 2025, he has bowled 68 balls in 4 matches so far, in which he has given 104 runs at an economy of 9.18 and taken 5 wickets. If we talk about his entire IPL career, from 2017 till now, he has taken 51 wickets in 49 matches, in which his best performance has been 4 wickets for 28 runs.

In the current season, Punjab Kings are at the sixth position in the points table, they have won 2 out of 5 matches so far. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders have won 3 out of 6 matches and lost 3. They are at number five in the table. Today's match will be played at Mullanpur Cricket Stadium and both teams will enter the field to strengthen their position.
