Bihar Launches Central Command for Khelo India Youth Games, Eyes Guinness Records
Bihar's state government launches a 24x7 Central Command and Control Centre to manage the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games 2025, ensuring seamless coordination and logistics.";

In a significant first for Bihar, the state government on Wednesday inaugurated a 24x7 Central Command and Control Centre at the Pataliputra Sports Complex in Patna. This dedicated hub will manage the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games 2025, scheduled to take place from May 4 to 15 across five districts of the state.
Operating until May 17, the centre aims to ensure seamless coordination among the numerous departments, agencies, and ground-level personnel involved in organizing the Games – a prestigious event Bihar is hosting for the first time.
The inauguration was led by Dr B Rajender, Additional Chief Secretary, Sports Department. Present at the event were senior officials including Ravindran Shankaran, Director General and CEO of the Bihar State Sports Authority; Mahendra Kumar, Director of Sports; and Dr Sanjay Sinha, former Director of the Sports Authority and the appointed chief coordinator of the Command Centre.
“This is a massive responsibility, and an unprecedented opportunity for Bihar,” stated Mr. Shankaran. “The logistics of conducting competitions in 28 disciplines across five districts and the national capital are complex. This centre will act as the central intelligence – ensuring every aspect, from transportation and medical services to volunteer movement, operates in harmony.”
Besides Patna, the Games will extend to Gaya, Rajgir, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, and selected venues in Delhi. Officials indicated that over 1,000 volunteers, liaison officers representing all participating states, and nodal representatives from various ministries and departments will be coordinated through this central control room.
The centre will also function as a live response hub, with teams from the Sports Authority of India, as well as energy, transport, health, food, and civic departments stationed to address any real-time crisis or requirement.
However, beyond the sporting competitions, Bihar's cultural showcase is also generating significant attention. Two Guinness World Record attempts are planned for the opening ceremony on May 4. The first involves 400 child monks performing a synchronized singing bowl recital, aiming to surpass the current record held by 100 performers. The second is the creation of the world’s largest Madhubani painting, a collaborative effort underway at the venue involving 100 women artists who began their work on Wednesday.
Both record attempts are scheduled to be presented before the Prime Minister during the opening day ceremony, with officials from Guinness World Records expected to be in attendance.
Senior officials emphasized that the Games represent more than just a sporting event; they signify a “moment of image transformation” for Bihar. “This is about demonstrating capability, confidence, and coordination,” a senior member of the organizing committee commented. “And we are prepared.”
