Pakistani actor returns to Bollywood after 9 years, uproar over 'Abir-Gulaal'
After the teaser of 'Abir-Gulaal' came out, protests started in Maharashtra. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has protested against the release of the film.;

The teaser of the film Abir-Gulaal was released yesterday. Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is in an important role along with Vaani Kapoor. He will be seen in an Indian film after about 9 years.
As soon as its teaser came out, protests started in Maharashtra. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has protested against the release of the film. They said that due to Fawad Khan's presence in the film, they will not allow it to be released in Maharashtra.
MNS spokesperson Ameya Kopkar said- "We came to know about the release of the film when the makers announced it. We are clearly saying that this film will not be allowed to be released in Maharashtra because it has a Pakistani actor."
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam also gave his opinion on this issue. He said- "Indian audience does not like Pakistani films. Pakistani actors have not been successful in Indian films. I believe that Pakistani artists should work in their country instead of working in the Indian market."
Release of the film Abir-Gulaal is a romantic-comedy film, which will be released on 9 May 2025. After its teaser, controversy has started regarding the film. Directed by Aarti S Bagdi, the film 'Abir Gulaal' is produced by Vivek B Agarwal, Avantika Hari and Rakesh Sippy.
Talking about Fawad Khan, the Pakistani actor made his debut in Indian cinema with the 2014 film 'Khubsoorat'. Sonam Kapoor was seen in an important role with him in Shashank Ghosh's comedy drama. The film was based on the 1980 film of the same name.
After this, Fawad appeared in Shakun Batra's family-drama 'Kapoor and Sons' in 2016 alongside Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra. Fawad has also worked in Karan Johar's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil'. Fawad played the role of Anushka's fiancé in the Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai starrer film. Vaani Kapoor's last release was 'Khel Khel Mein', in which she was seen alongside Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Pragya Jaiswal, Taapsee Pannu and other actors.
