Pathankot Farmer's Daughter Commissioned as Officer in Indian Army | Mai Bhago AFPI

Palvi Rajput, daughter of a farmer from Pathankot, commissioned as Lieutenant in Indian Army after training at Officer's Training Academy in Chennai.

Chandigarh, September 7: Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls, SAS Nagar (Mohali), has added another feather to its cap with Palvi Rajput, an alumni of the institute, being commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army. She successfully completed her training at the Officer's Training Academy in Chennai on Saturday and participated in the passing out parade, overseen by Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM.

Lieutenant Palvi Rajput, commissioned into the Artillery Regiment, is the daughter of Sh. Ravinder Singh, a farmer from Pathankot District. Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr. Aman Arora congratulated Lieutenant Palvi Rajput on her achievement, saying her success will inspire more daughters of Punjab to consider careers in defence services.

The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, is actively supporting the aspirations of Punjab's daughters who aim to serve as commissioned officers in the Defence Services. To facilitate this, the government established an NDA Preparatory Wing for Girls at Mai Bhago AFPI in July 2023, in addition to the existing Graduate Wing. The entrance exam for the third batch of the NDA Preparatory Wing is scheduled for January 2025. Mai Bhago AFPI has a fully residential campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure and is the only one of its kind in the country, the cabinet minister added.

Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu, AVSM (Retd.), Director of Mai Bhago AFPI, expressed satisfaction over the regular commissioning of the institute's alumni as commissioned officers in the Defence Services. He highlighted that this accomplishment will strengthen the state government's initiatives to increase the number of female candidates attending pre-commission training academies for the armed forces. He conveyed his best wishes to Lieutenant Palvi Rajput for a promising future in the Indian Army.
