India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) achieved a landmark feat today with the successful launch of Mission Divyastra. This mission marked the maiden flight of the indigenously developed Agni-5 ballistic missile equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology.

The launch, conducted from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha, witnessed the Agni-5 missile carrying multiple re-entry vehicles, which were successfully tracked and monitored by telemetry and radar stations. This mission accomplishment signifies a significant advancement in India's missile capabilities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to express his pride in DRDO scientists, commending their efforts on this complex mission. Raksha Mantri (Defence Minister) Rajnath Singh also congratulated the entire team, hailing it as an exceptional success.

This achievement places India amongst a select group of nations possessing MIRV technology. MIRVs allow a single ballistic missile to deliver multiple warheads to separate targets, significantly enhancing its destructive potential.
