Walkie-Talkie Explosion in Lebanon Kills Three, Follows Deadly Pager Blasts in Hezbollah Stronghold
An incident of a walkie-talkie exploding has been reported in Lebanon. Three people are reported to have died in this incident. Many people were killed in the pager blast incident on Tuesday. According to the report of the news agency AFP, a day after the pager explosions, an incident of a walkie-talkie explosion took place in Hezbollah's stronghold.
On Tuesday, hundreds of pagers being used for communication in Lebanon exploded simultaneously. More than 3000 people were injured in this incident. At the same time, the condition of 200 of the injured was said to be critical. In Lebanon, on Tuesday evening, pagers kept in pockets started exploding one after the other. Shortly after, blood-soaked pictures of Hezbollah fighters and explosion videos started going viral on social media. Hezbollah has blamed Israel for this explosion.
Two different things are being said about how the pager blasts happened or were done in Lebanon. As initial information, it was said that this blast was done by hacking the pager system. Israel and its intelligence agency Mossad are being suspected. Now the first theory that has come to the fore, according to it, the lithium batteries of the pagers were heated so much through hacking that they exploded.
The second theory says that while making the pagers or at the time of their supply, the supply chain was sent somewhere and explosives were planted in thousands of pagers. This suspicion is being expressed through the pictures of pagers that are coming out in the blasts. It is being told that all these pagers are made in Taiwan in Gold Apollo Company, whose model number is AP924. However, Apollo Company says that this is a pager made in a European country, which has the right to use the name of Gold Apollo Company.
It is noteworthy that three Hezbollah members were killed earlier in an Israeli air strike on a village in southern Lebanon. Lebanese military sources told news agency Xinhua on the condition of anonymity that an Israeli warplane fired two air-to-ground missiles at a house in the border village of Majdal Salem. The house was destroyed in this attack and the surrounding buildings were heavily damaged.
