Tesla Cybertruck Allegedly Disabled Remotely Amid Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Chechen Leader Accuses Elon Musk
Tesla Cybertruck is one of those select cars that remain in the news for years even after its launch. The company introduced this car in the year 2019, but it reached the market with a delay of several years. Well, the reason for Cybertruck being in the news at this time is its closure.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has accused Tesla CEO Elon Musk. He alleges that Musk has remotely disabled his Cybertruck. This Cybertruck was sent to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Kadyrov claimed on Thursday that the Cybertruck he had sent to the war. A machine gun was installed on it and it was doing a very good job in the war. He told on Friday that he has now sent two other Cybertrucks to the war.
The Chechen leader has claimed that the Cybertruck that has been remotely disabled in the war was gifted to him by Elon Musk. However, Musk has denied such claims. Musk wrote on X, "Are you seriously so retarded that you think I donated a Cybertruck to a Russian general?”
The question is whether the Tesla Cybertruck can be shut down remotely. Tesla has not officially given any information about this. However, Tesla's Cybertruck can be shut down remotely. The reason for this is the software of the car.
This car does not work only on hardware. A large part of it depends on software and without it, it is difficult to run it. Tesla offers OTA (over-the-air) software updates to its cars. If the company wants to shut down a car, it can do so through a software update.
Many features of the Tesla car can be accessed from the mobile app. If hackers somehow get access to the car owner's phone, they can access these features of the car. Hackers can also disable the car by using this app. Apart from this, Tesla itself can also disable these cars remotely if it wants.
While traditional cars had nominal software and the car was completely dependent on hardware, the opposite is true in modern cars. The car is heavily dependent on software along with hardware and hence it can be disabled. The price of the Tesla Cybertruck starts at $93,990.
