Coup in Bangladesh: PM Sheikh Hasina Resigned and Left the Country Amid Violent Anti-Reservation Protests

A coup took place in Bangladesh on Monday amid anti-reservation protests and violent clashes. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and left the capital Dhaka. Sources told news agency AFP, "PM Sheikh Hasina and her sister Rehana have left Gana Bhaban (the official residence of the Prime Minister) and have gone to a safe place. Sheikh Hasina wanted to record a speech regarding the violence. But she did not get a chance to do so. Meanwhile, protesters have entered the PM's residence."

This incident happened at a time when Bangladesh Army Chief Wakar-uz-Zaman is scheduled to address the nation today after 98 people were killed in fierce clashes yesterday. The death toll from the protests that started last month has so far exceeded 300. Hundreds of thousands of protesters demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Hasina violated the curfew and marched on the streets of the capital. After which the news of Sheikh Hasina's resignation came.

According to the report, Sheikh Hasina was seen leaving with her sister Sheikh Rehana in a Bangladesh military aircraft. In the footage of the airline tracker 'Flight Radar', Bangladesh Air Force aircraft Lockheed C-130J Hercules is seen flying over India.




The crowd set fire to the Awami League office and the Home Minister's residence

The situation has worsened amid the violence. The protesters have set fire to the office of Sheikh Hasina's party Awami League. The crowd has also set fire to the house of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.

Protesters occupy Gana Bhaban

The protesters have entered the PM’s residence Gana Bhaban. The protesters have occupied the PM House. Many footages of this are going viral on social media platforms, in which protesters can be seen resting in the bedroom of Bangladesh PM House. Protesters can also be seen walking on the lawn of the PM House.
