"China Only Threatens, It Does Not Dare to Attack": Taiwan's Bold Challenge to Xi Jinping

China, one of the world's top superpowers, often asserts its rights over neighboring country Taiwan. Communist China believes that Taiwan is part of it and it has every right to bring Taipei under Beijing. Contrary to this claim of China, Taiwan considers itself an independent country and rejects any such claim outright.

US National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan is on a visit to Beijing. During this, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated his claim and even said that the US should accept Taiwan's peaceful merger with China and support it. Now Taiwan has once again said a big thing while putting forward its point. Taiwan says that China only threatens. It does not dare to attack. This is in a way an open challenge to Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Taiwan's Defense Ministry said that China cannot launch a full-scale attack on Taipei, as it does not have sufficient resources for this. The Defense Ministry further said that that is why the neighboring country is gathering advanced weapons. The Defense Ministry further said that China also has other options to threaten Taiwan. It is worth noting that China considers democratic Taiwan as its part. To further strengthen this claim, Beijing has increased military and political pressure to strengthen its claims in the last five years. On the other hand, Taiwan has been strongly rejecting this claim of China on every platform and every occasion.

The Ministry of Defense of Taiwan has done a threat assessment posed by China. A copy of this has been sent to every MP of Taiwan. The Defense Ministry of Taiwan says that China is constantly increasing its strength. Under this strategy, steps like joint command operations are being taken by Beijing. This paper further states that due to the geographical location of the Taiwan Strait, China has very limited capabilities. China is still not fully prepared for war with Taiwan nor does Beijing have sufficient capabilities for this.

Taiwan's Defense Ministry said that China is accelerating the development of many new weapons like H-20 bomber planes and hypersonic missiles. It is also increasing the number of nuclear weapons. The report said that in May when China conducted war exercises in areas near Taiwan immediately after Lai Ching-te took over as the new President, the Chinese Coast Guard's warship was sent for the first time for exercise on the east coast. The ministry said that this exercise aimed to break contact with the outside world and blockade Taiwan.
