BNP Demands Sheikh Hasina's Extradition from India for Prosecution in Bangladesh
After the bloody riots in Bangladesh, there was a change of power. Sheikh Hasina lost her chair in the storm of reservation. She had to flee Bangladesh. Currently, she is taking refuge in India. But her troubles are not leaving her even in India. Cases are being registered against her continuously in Bangladesh. Now the demand for her extradition is also gaining momentum.
According to a source, the new interim government of Bangladesh is considering the extradition of Sheikh Hasina. Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia's commander has spewed venom against India. He says that India has not done the right thing by giving refuge to Sheikh Hasina.
The main opposition party of Bangladesh BNP i.e. Bangladesh Nationalist Party has demanded the extradition of Sheikh Hasina from India so that she can be prosecuted in Bangladesh. Many cases including murder are registered against Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh. Till Tuesday, the number of cases registered against her has reached about 25. There was a student protest in Bangladesh on 5 August, in which about 100 people died. After that uproar, Sheikh Hasina had to leave her chair and on 6 August she left Bangladesh and fled to India.
According to the news of ‘Times of India’, BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, 'We appeal to India to hand over Sheikh Hasina to the Bangladesh government in a legal manner. The people of Bangladesh have given the verdict of her case. Let her face that case. Alamgir says that India has not done the right thing by giving refuge to Sheikh Hasina. This is not following the commitment to uphold democratic principles. He alleged that Sheikh Hasina is hatching conspiracies to fail the revolution in Bangladesh by staying in India’.
By demanding the extradition of Sheikh Hasina, Alamgir has indirectly spewed venom against India. Regarding Sheikh Hasina, he said, 'I am saying this firmly and we want to make it clear that I do not think India can get more love by sheltering the enemy of the people of Bangladesh (Sheikh Hasina), who had to flee the country.'
However, Sheikh Hasina's party Awami League has criticized the interim government of Bangladesh over the cases registered against Hasina. Awami League has described the cases registered against Sheikh Hasina as false and politically motivated.
